And off we go!!

The first meeting went off to a flying start. We have an amazing core of 9 who brought enthusiasm and wonderful creative ideas to the table. There was so much energy bouncing around that already this project has got off to a flying start.
Looking forward to the wonders that will be brought on Thursday!

Back to work

So, yesterday was officially the "back to work" day, with today seeing Sueleen and I draft up a painstakingly accurate timeline between now and the 26th February. Today also saw the birth of the 3 seam-stress's...watch this space, and also it saw a new addition to the collective in the name of Emily Moore, a textiles designer from Faversham. Heres her website link http://emilymoorecreative.co.uk/ and roll on tommorow s meeting!!

A 4 oclock splurge

Yesterday morning (4am to be exact!) I was suddenly awoke by something I can only describe as an uninvited electric shock in my chest, you know, like the ones they use in hospital to resuscitate someone. "Stand clear" BANG, i felt like i'd just had a car crash! In fact, when I first opened my eyes I saw the figure of a sitting girl, whom I didn't know, crouching next to my bed, as if she was in the passenger seat of the car i'd just crashed. When I blinked she was gone, she must have been the remnants of my dream. Through the next few seconds as I became rapidly awake (which is rare! I'm not a morning person and it takes me ages to stir) a channel of bright white light poured in through my chest. It felt so good and before I knew it I was wide awake, with my bedside light on wondering what the hell had just happened to me! I was due at work at 8am and thought maybe I should try and go back to sleep but I was curious to hear the ideas out that were forming rapidly in my mind, like a bit of water would to a tub of bicarb, the bubbles were rising, forming clusters, cells, whole communities of hustling, bustling creation on the surface of my brain. Damn!! Paper! Quick!!! I pulled on some joggers, ran downstairs and hadn't even made my first cup of tea before I had a pretty impressive sprawl of notes, diagrams, drawings and lists in front of me. My rug was no longer visible, and as I went through to the kitchen at quarter to 7 to make my first cup of tea, the pang of breakfast hunger in my stomach was temporarily replaced with a huge pang of excitement. This was gonna be brilliant I thought! Then my stomach rumbled again and I was quickly distracted by a big mug of tea and a pile of hot toast. Women you say? Fickle? Never.

3 oclock in the morning rants!! but thanks for showing me the way back to my blog!!

Envy of the world? The arts culture in Britain? Steady on there, not even I, a fully fledged Brit believes that, or can indeed quote that. Before we start making sweeping statements such as, we need to asses what is the Arts exactly, And Banksy can f*** off, he is no exception.

Brunonoble, nice story, and a good moral,(artists abusing funding just to unleash there egotistical, fantastical bullshit on the world is selfish and shouldn't be funded) however, the "Arts" spans wider and i find your argument naive and also offensive to the hundreds of people working hard, solely dedicated to using the Arts as a regenerative tool often in communities badly effected by .depression, and often producing astounding results.

...and that hard work, dedicated to rebuilding FAITH in communities (that has duly being broken down by government and banks) should be part funded by the state. I do also believe however that artists should be more entrepreneurial... on that note, does anyone want to buy a postcard so we can make a community arts project happen?
